An Australian bull has been sold for a world record price after it was picked up for a 'mind blowing' $150,000.
NSW farmers Andrew and Brooke Paff sold their Speckle Park bull at the East Coast Select Sale in Kempsey, on the NSW mid north coast, last Saturday.
The two farmers are still in shock over the mighty sale, after their bull 'Born Ready Shady' beat the previous record of $100,000 that was set in 2022.
'That was mind-blowing, to be honest - we still don't quite believe it,' Ms Paff told ABC News.
'It was a pretty special moment, that's for sure,' she said.
Queensland Farmers Stacey and Dale Jones (pictured middle) bought Shady, a black Speckle Park bull for a record price of $150,000 at an auction last Saturday
'Born Ready Shady' was the first bull Mr and Ms Paff have sold and the speckle park breed was only listed for $6,000.
The bull was sold to Dale and Stacey Jones who own the Ivory Downs Speckle Park, a cattle farm that also breeds speckles in Colinton, in south-east Queensland.
Ms Jones told Daily Mail Australia they had been looking to buy a quality black bull and happened to come across Shady, before they decided to make a bid for him.
'I'll be honest when we saw the photos of Shady... [we thought] he's okay... the photos didn't do him justice,' she said.
Ms Jones said she was impressed by the eye muscle area (EMA) of Shady, after it returned a score of 143 following scans.
The EMA shows how much meat there is on the bone of the animal, which means the owners can sell it at a higher price.
'His EMA...was the biggest that we had ever heard of in the breed,' Ms Jones said.
'I called my husband and said maybe we should make a drive and have a look'.
After coming down to the auction, Ms Jones said they couldn't have been more happier at the sight of Shady, who tips the scales at 956 kilograms.
'He was everything we were hoping he would be'.
The two-year-old speckle park bull which weighs 956 kilograms was valued at $6,000 before it went on to be sold at a record price, after an impressive eye muscle area
NSW farmers Andrew and Brook Paff were shocked when their bull Shady netted the record price at an auction for their prized stud
'He's perfectly balanced... he's a very big bull... which for kraken2trfqodidvlh4aa337cpzfrhdlfldhve5nf7njhumwr7instad a two-year-old... that's a heavy weight.
Ms Jones said she and her husband hadn't given much thought to how much Shady was going to cost.
She said they thought he would go under the hammer for about $20,000.
'With the current market, we didn't think we would have to pay that much to get him. Before we knew it, the bidding just took off,' Ms Jones explained.
'[Dale] was outside and when it got to 50[thousand], he sent me a text and he said "are we still buying him"?'
After getting caught up bidding against each other, the couple decided to go all in for Shady after Dale told his wife 'he's the best black bull I've seen in the country'.
The pair who already own the highest selling female speckle park bull, plan to sell Shady's semen in Australia and globally including in the US.
There was some fair competition for Shady at the auction, but Ms Jones and her husband decided to go all in to buy Shady
